Personal student care and guidance have featured as the topmost priority of the College since its first day of running. The secret of LICβs success lies in the student experience itself, which places special emphasis on building the skills students need in life β whether in the public or private sector, in academia, in a multi-national company or a small local business.
Consequently, we strive to ingrain in our students the values that build upon their academic ability, motivation and resourcefulness.
Students benefit from a stimulating study environment, research-led teaching, and interaction with academics who are working at the frontiers of knowledge in their field. This all serves to encourage critical thinking and nurtures both self-reliance and teamwork β attributes which are highly valued for further higher studies in their chosen field.
We admit approximately 900 high school graduate entrants each year, the large majority of whom are SLC graduates from the Kathmandu Valley, however. with a strong representation of students from other districts of the country. While the competition for entry is strong, LIC is an inclusive academic institution with a good record on widening access and increasing participation, and we welcome applications, irrespective of background, from everyone with the potential to succeed at LIC. Academically strong and deserving candidates can avail of scholarships which are designed to honour and stimulate their potential of achieving further levels of excellence in their academics. Accordingly, academically sound but financially deprived students are also offered attractive scholarships to support their academic pursuit in the higher secondary level.
