Spreading Humanity by Sabita Giri

Humanity means extending unconditional love to each and every living being on Earth. Humanity can be defined as quality of being human ,the peculiar nature of man, by which he is distinguished from other beings. Being human does not mean that an individual possess humanity. Humanity means helping others and caring for others whenever and wherever possible. humanity means forgetting you r selfish interests at times when other needs your help.

Humanity, in general, is perceived as a charity. As the old saying goes, it begins at home. It spreads across the roads we travel, places we dwell and people we meet. In Young India (1924) Gandhiji wrote, ‘I want to identify myself with everything that lives.’ He had an incredible experience with the people, their lives. He believed that the salvation of his life is through serving the nation and people whom he loved beyond anything else in the world. His communication and correction with the people was so splendid that the whole world could visualize in him the love and care revealed by Jesus Christ and Buddha. The rich or poor, literate or educated, Gandhiji did the service to all and his principle stand even today as a bond connecting people belonging to various communities, nations and races. Today’s world, when we look at in a social point of view, is full of greed, commotion, distress and distrust. Besides becoming more civilized and learning about the intricacies of human race and development, we human are mired by the new wave of modernization. Our direct interactions with our children, neighbors and friends are taken away by this massive modern hi-tech living style. We do realize many times a day the importance of humanity, love and kindness to other living beings but could not divulge them directly upon anyone. We keep humanity, in high regard in principle but have no time to give it to a meaning in our own life. We do not expend even a little time, a few seconds in the service of humanity, in the form of prayers or meditation.

For me the most important religion is humanity just being a good human being defines you everywhere. All that you need to work upon is being hopeful to the needy at all times and every place. Being loving and caring towards all living beings even plants and animals, and above person’s problem and realize the situations they are in and be considerate.

If eating and having fun is only what we are born to do then we should keep one thing in mind, even animals can do this. One does not need a hefty bank account to contribute towards humanitarian activities. Paying our domestic help fairly is also humanitarian. Lifting the heavy bag for an old woman is humanity, helping a disabled person to cross the road is humanity, helping your mom in chores is humanity, in fact helping anyone who is in need is humanity.
