Introduction to Computer Engineering

Computer engineering is a discipline that integrates several fields of Electrical engineering and computer science required to develop computer hardware and software. Computer engineers usually have training in electronic engineering (or electrical engineering), software design, and hardware-software integration instead of only software engineering or electronic engineering. Computer engineers are involved in many hardware and software aspects of computing, from the design of individual microprocessors, personal computers, and supercomputers, to circuit design. This field of engineering not only focuses on how computer systems themselves work, but also how they integrate into the larger picture.

General Information

Course Title: Bachelor of Engineering in Computer (BE Computer)

Introduction to Civil Engineering

Civil engineering is a professional engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like roads, bridges, canals, dams, and buildings. Civil engineering is the oldest engineering discipline after military engineering, and it was defined to distinguish non-military engineering from military engineering. It is traditionally broken into several sub-disciplines including environmental engineering, geotechnical engineering, geophysics, geodesy, control engineering, structural engineering, biomechanics, nanotechnology, transportation engineering, earth science, atmospheric sciences, forensic engineering, municipal or urban engineering, water resources engineering, materials engineering, coastal engineering, surveying, and construction engineering. Civil engineering takes place on all levels: in the public sector from municipal through to national governments, and in the private sector from individual homeowners through to international companies.

General Information
Course Title: Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering (BE Civil)
Category: Bachelor
Course Duration: 48 months (4 years)
Academic Progress: Semester, 2 semesters per year
Estimated Cost: N/A

Required Qualification to study Civil Engineering

Candidates interested in obtaining admission should be an Intermediate in Science (I.Sc.) or Higher Secondary level (10+2) Science, or Diploma in Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution with at least second division marks in their Intermediate/equivalent studies. One who is interested must pass the entrance exam and must be from Science stream with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as separate compulsory subjects.

Scope of Civil Engineering in Nepal
Nepal is country where it seems that “civil engineering” is the only engineering branch that seems to have good scope. Still, people in Nepal imagine a civil engineer when they hear “engineer”. There has always been a good demand for qualified civil engineers in Nepal. The current situation, however, has led to a slump. The faculty members of the different colleges we visited as well as working professionals foresee a resurgence in the near future.

As a civil engineer, your field of work should the areas mentioned below:

In Private Practice: You will have to plan, design, construct and operate physical works and facilities used by the public.

In Academia: You will teach students the fundamentals of civil engineering. You could also be involved in research in order to advance the state-of-the-art.

In Public Practice: You could be involved in city and/or regional planning, layout, and construction of highways and pipelines.

The largest group of workers in the health sector are those in the nursing occupations as nurses and nursing assistants. In a hospital from the general ward to the operating theater, nursing forms an integral part. This is one of the few domains of work that is almost totally dominated by women.

Nursing duties are manifold and cover a wide range of functions and responsibilities, that depends on the level of qualification and the working environment. At the initial level, nurses are required for the bedside care of patients, while at a senior level they are required to manage a special group of people like psychiatric, intensive care patients which require specialized skills. They are also involved in dispensing medication, keeping records of the patient’s progress, setting up and operating medical equipment, administration, and several other routine tasks.

This field is both mentally and physically demanding and nurses are often exposed to health risks from infectious diseases. As such this profession demands long hours of work and duties which incorporate both skill and understanding of patients needs.
