The COVID-19 inoculation program has surpassed its coverage goal. By the end of Asoj, the government hoped to have vaccinated one-third of the target group (mid-October).
By October 17, the Ministry of Health and Population had set a target of covering 33% of the target demographic in the vaccination program, and evidence suggests that it was met.
It should be emphasized that shortly after taking office on July 13, Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba committed to make the COVID-19 vaccination campaign a primary priority.
According to official figures, 42.2 percent of the target group has received the first dose, with 33.5 percent having received all three doses. The government aimed to vaccinate 21,756,763 people over the age of 18.
To date, 18,858,710 doses of immunizations have arrived home, according to the Department of Health Services’ Child Health and Immunization Section.
Additional vaccine doses of 24,158,780 will be obtained through direct procurement and the COVAX facility, according to Section Chief Sagar Dahal.
Until the end of October, preparations are continuing to receive 100,620 doses of vaccines for people aged 12 to 18.
