Dhanwantari Jayanti Celebrating Today

Dhanwantari Jayanti, which falls on Kartik Krishna Trayodashi every year, is commemorated across the country on Tuesday with a variety of events.

The day commemorates the birth of Dhanwantari, the Ayurvedic doctor and pioneer of Ayurveda, the oldest Vedic medicine based on forest plants.

After the creation of the Ayurveda Campus in Naradevi, Kathmandu in 1985 BS, Dhanwantrai Jayanti was officially commemorated in Nepal for the first time.

Ayurveda Campus, formerly known as the State Ayurveda College, is in operation as an Ayurveda Hospital teaching hospital. Kirtipur is presently the new home of the campus.

Similarly, as part of a week-long celebration to commemorate the 6th Ayurveda Day, the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, Embassy of India, Kathmandu, and Ayurveda Campus, Institute of Medicine, and Tribhuvan University jointly organized a webinar on “Ayurveda for Well Being – Prospects and Challenges” on Monday (Dhanwantari Jayanti).

In Nepal, the day is known as Rastiya Aarogya Diwas.
