Embossed Number Plate Mandatory For Vehicles Applying For Renewal From January 15

From January 15, the Department of Transportation Management (DoTM) has made the embossed number plate system mandatory for all vehicles renewing their registration.

According to the DoTM’s spokesperson, Dr Loknath Bhushal, this is part of a push to make embossed number plates mandatory for all cars in the country.

From November 16, 2020, the DoTM will apply the system for newly registered automobiles. “Within the next year, there is a plan to install number plates on all vehicles,” he stated.

He stated the process of providing embossed number plates for automobiles filing for registration renewal is in the works.

The plates were sent to the transport management office by the contracting company. Due to judicial battles linked to the issue and global COVID-19, he added, the system’s deployment was delayed.

The DoTM and Tiger IT (The Corporation) agreed to deliver and install the plates on May 30, 2016.
