Health Ministry Warns Of Taking Action Against Medical Colleges

The government has stated that medical colleges that charge fees that are higher than those set by the Medical Education Commission will have their affiliations revoked.

In the context of complaints received against several colleges charging excessively high fees, the ministry threatened to revoke the affiliation of medical colleges that repeatedly disobeyed the directive.

“Action would be taken as per Section 14 of the National Medical Education Act against the colleges demanding additional fees from the students in violation of the Commission’s recommendation,” says Deepak Sharma, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.

Despite the fact that the ministry and the commission have recommended students not to pay fees higher than the Commission’s established rate, medical colleges have refused to let students who have not paid the requested fees to sit for examinations.
