Health-Protection Tourism Activities Suggested

As the transmission of the novel COVID-19 variant Omicron is on the rise, the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) has undertaken meetings with organizations and individuals involved in the tourism sector.

At the time, business sector organizations and tourism entrepreneurs claimed that tourism might be made successful if health and safety regulations were followed.

They also asked the government not to make hasty decisions to close enterprises or restrict activity. They claimed that in the past, tourism had suffered as a result of the abrupt closure declared in the aftermath of the COVID-19 outbreak.

In response, Dr. Dhananjay Regmi, the NTB’s Chief Executive Officer, stated that the Board had previously conducted numerous programs despite the COVID-19 infection and limited resources.

He went on to say that the initiative was put up because the business sector’s proposals were needed in light of the rising number of new diseases.

According to Achyut Guragai, President of the Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents, there is no option but booster vaccines against the pandemic and adhering to health regulations in order to keep tourism sustainable.

Given the state of COVID-19, tourism entrepreneur Vijay Amatya advised the NTB to modify its market strategy.

Similarly, Dambar Parajuli, President of the Expedition Operators Association, stated that criteria should be developed to accept visitors, but that once they get in Nepal, there should be no restrictions.
