Kathmandu Valley's Temperature Dipped To 2.6 Degrees Celsius, Valley Experiences This Year's Coldest Day So Far

Kathmandu Valley’s temperature has dipped to 2.6 degrees Celsius today.

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, today was the coldest day of the year so far in Kathmandu Valley.

On Friday, the Valley recorded a temperature of 3.4 degrees Celsius. People have been experiencing cold around the country, notably in the Kathmandu valley, as the mercury has dropped.

Pratibha Manandhar, a Department meteorologist, said the temperature in the valley is dropping day by day and would continue to fluctuate in the coming days.

Manandhar went on to say that if the sky is foggy at night, the temperature rises during the day, and if the sky is clear during the day, the temperature drops.

Similarly, the western Terai districts have been hit by bitter cold. Due to fog and mist in majority of Terai’s areas, people’s daily lives are becoming more difficult.

Doctors have advised people to take precautions to keep warm, as the cold has primarily affected the elderly and young.

The Meteorological Forecasting Division reports that the minimum temperature in Kathmandu Valley today is 2.6 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is 19.0 degrees Celsius.

Today, the lowest temperature was minus five degrees Celsius in Jumla, while the highest temperature was 28.1 degrees Celsius in Bhairahawa.
