To be called in the White House by the President of United States of America to perform might be one thing, but to be praised by the President at the White House is an another thing. Reigning Pop Queen Katy Perry was called at The White House to perform and the President was quite impressed by her talents. Being called at the White House is a huge moment, but to be hailed as a “wonderful person” is just an outstanding achievement.
The President Of USA, Barack Obama hosted the american pop singer at a White House dinner to honour the 46th anniversary of the Special Olympics. Obama further told that he felt ‘grateful’ she’d taken time out of her busy schedule to be there.
Obama introduced the multi-platinum recording artist by saying: ‘We have just one of my favorite people performing tonight — Katy Perry. We are so grateful to her.”
‘I love Katy Perry. She is just a wonderful person,’ he added.
Barack Obama further told that he met her mother and she was a wonderful person. He also informed everyone that the American Pop Singer is on a tour right now, so he told that it was quite generous and kind of her to take some time out from her busy schedule and make some time to perform live in front of us.
‘Lately’ hitmaker Stevie Wonder, tennis player Andy Roddick and his model wife Brooklyn Decker were also in attendance at this extravagant event at the dinner in the East Room of The White House.
The raven-haired pop songstress certainly made a Firework on the style front in her sparkling midnight blue gown from Elie Saab’s Pre-Fall 2014 collection, whilst gaining extra points for her elegant updo. She’s a dark horse in the fashion world, this one.
Katy simply accessorised the intricately embellished gown with diamond drop earrings and an old Hollywood make-up look of thick black eyeliner and bold fuchsia lipstick. So there is no wonder why the President of US would think she’s a wonderful person. Because she really knows how to bring it when it comes to looking fashionable and trendy, she does have our vote as well.
Taking her mother, Mary Hudson, to the event was a big turnaround for Katy – who has performed twice before for the President – as she previously claimed she had banned her pastor parents from watching her sing at the Commander-in-Chief’s second inauguration in 2012 because they didn’t vote for him.
She told in the past that her parents are Republicans and she’s not. They didn’t vote for Obama, but when she was asked to sing at the inauguration, they were like, ‘We can come.’ And she was like, ‘No, you can’t. I love you so much, but that–on principle.’
‘They understood, but I was like, ‘How dare you?’ in a way.’ Even though they were Republicans, when its about seeing their daughter singing at The White House, in front of the President and many great personalities, its quite understandable!
The American singing sensation, being quite humbled and honored to be performing at The White House,on such an auspiciois ocassion, ‘The Dark Horse’ hit maker took it to Twitter to say: ‘What an incredibly beautiful evening being invited to sing at the White House’.
She then posted a second message, with a link to her new video for This Is How We Do, adding: ‘Between singing at the White House & releasing one of my favorite videos, today was a good one.’
This Is How We Do is a single from her fourth studio album Prism and is the fifth song to be released from the LP.
California Girl singer’s Prismatic World Tour startedoff in the UK in May, where she performed 17 dates up and down the country.
The American leg of the tour kicked off last month in North Carolina; she did one performance in New York earlier this month in NYC’s Madison Square Garden.
