Seth MacFarlene sued for stealing Teddy Bear | News

The R-rated film ‘Ted’ was directed by Seth MacFarlane starring Mark Wahllberg and Mia Kunis. On June 29, 2009 ‘Ted’, co-written, directed by Seth MacFarlane was released which grossed $550 million dollars worldwide. The story was about a foul mouthed teddy bear who comes to life whose name is Ted who lives with his buddy played by actor Mark Wahllberg who loves with his girlfriend played by actress Mia Kunis. A California company had sued Seth MacFarlans for stealing the idea of the foul mouthed teddy bear and using the idea in his film ‘Ted’. Seth was the creator and the voice impersonator of the main protagonist of the film ‘Ted.’

According to a lawsuit filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles, a screenplay called Acting School Academy was created in 2008 that featured a foul-mouthed, womanizing teddy bear named Charlie by Bengal Mangle Production. The suit said that Charlie is similar to Ted, who is a foul mouthed alive teddy bear, who loves smoking, drinking, prostitutes & lives in an adult world but yet he is a funny character.

According to the complaint Acting School Academy became a web series that was shown on YouTube, Facebook, iTunes, FunnyOrDie.com, Vimeo.com and elsewhere. It got at least 1.2 million views between July 2009 and June 2012. That suit complains that Ted and Charlie are very much alike, have the same physical appearance, both love to drink, smoke pot and live in an adult world and maintains a very active social life with the people around them. The suit allegedly names Macfarlane’s Fuzzy and Door Production, producer of ‘Ted’ Media Rights Capital and distributor Universal Studios. There was no immediate response from MacFarlane and Universal Studios regarding the filed suit. Copyright Infringement has been alleged by the suit. LA Attorneys Neville Johnson, Douglas Johnson, Nicholas Kurtz and Thomas Girardi with his firm filed the law suit.
