TBC inaugurated Nepal’s first Bsc (hons) Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics course on December 2, 2021, with a session at the Soaltee Hotel in Kathmandu.
TBC was the first institute in Nepal to be accredited by the British Accreditation Council (BAC) this year.
They are now offering this fresh new degree in collaboration with The University of the West of England, which has been accredited by the Engineering Council and the British Computer Society in the United Kingdom.
Before being officially launched by Mr. Bam Bahadur Mishra, Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank, the event began with a unique cyber security-themed dance that reflected the threat that hacking is currently providing to the country (NRB).
“Ever since Nepal suffered a nationwide ATM attack, NRB has sensed that there is a significant requirement for digital forensic professionals,” Mr Mishra said during his inauguration speech.
We had to spend a lot of money bringing knowledge into the nation when this happened, but having the course means we’ll already have these professionals here.”
Mr. Anil Kumar Dutta, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, also spoke at the event, explaining that he is currently working to establish a cyber security center.
He also encouraged other colleges in Nepal to follow TBC’s lead and bring courses like this to the country, allowing students to complete their degrees here.
Mr. Vishal Upadhyaya, Ncell’s Chief Information Officer, then gave statistics and numbers illustrating the field’s current growth and problems. Furthermore, officials from Facts Nepal gave presentations emphasizing the importance of the course.
Dr. Rajib Subba, former Deputy Inspector General of Nepal Police, led a panel discussion that followed.
Mr. Bijay Kumar Roy, Director of the Nepal Telecom Authority’s (NTA) Monitoring Division; Mr. Binay Khadka, CEO of Khalti; Mr. Narayan Koirala, Managing Director of Eminence Ways; Mr. Pashupati Ray, Superintendent of Nepal Police’s (Cyber Bureau); Mr. Sujit Shrestha, COO of Standard Chartered Bank; and Ms. Yasmine Bhattarrai, NCell’s Information Security Unit They discussed the present state of cyber security and digital forensics in Nepal, as well as taking questions from the audience.
Mr. Rajen Kandel, the CEO and founder of The British College, presided over the occasion. He stated that all courses were now accepting applications, and he remarked of this new program, “Nepal is rapidly transitioning to a digital economy.
As a result, cyber security and digital forensics expertise are in high demand.
We hope that by implementing such programs, we will be able to contribute to the development of a safe and secure digital Nepal, as well as provide Nepalese youth with the information and skills they need to compete in the global job market “.
