TU Launches Master's Degree Course on Good Governance and Anti-Corruption Studies

The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Tribhuvan University (TU) has created a Master’s degree program in “Good Governance and Anti-Corruption Studies.”

The two-year, four-semester program covers themes such as principles of corruption, politics and corruption, problems for good governance, statistical science, development and corruption, anti-corruption legislation and mechanisms, morality and corruption, and social and cultural elements of corruption.

A curriculum on international relations and economic diplomacy is also included in the course.

At a news conference today, Faculty Dean Pro Dr Kusum Shakya told the media about this. According to the Dean, corruption remains one of the primary roadblocks to the country’s progress and prosperity, and the new TU program is expected to assist deter and avoid it in the future.

Assistant Dean Pro Tara Prasad Aryal was optimistic that the program would help to develop a competent staff in the fight against corruption. The key to combating corruption, according to program coordinator Dr Yogesh Ranjit, is to promote good governance and economic openness.

Bharat Jungam, a litterateur and activist, expressed his delight at the program’s inauguration, noting that he has been involved in anti-corruption campaigns for the past five decades.

Anup Jungam, the chair of the Anti-Corruption Academy, announced a scholarship of Rs 36,000 and Rs 18,000 for the best three students in each semester.
