Father's Day Celebration

On Tuesday, Nepali Hindus celebrate Father’s Day.

father's day

People honor their fathers on this day, which falls on the new moon day of Kuse Aunsi in the Nepali month of Bhadra, by giving them sweets, gifts, and delectable cuisine. Married women pay a visit to their dads’ house to commemorate the occasion.

Halfa grass (Kusha) is also brought into people’s homes.

Individuals who have lost their fathers go to the Gokarna¬†Mahadev Temple in Kathmandu’s Gokarneshwor Municipality to bathe in the sacred Bagmati River and pray for the eternal peace of their father’s departed soul. The day is also known as Gokarna Aunsi because of its connection to Gokarna Mahadev.

Devotees also go to Uttar Gaya in Rasuwa district, on the banks of the Bettrawati River, to pray for their deceased fathers. In the name of their deceased fathers, they also donate charity to the poor.
