Vaccines Arrive From China And Switzerland
Nepal got 1 million doses of Vero Cell, a COVID-19 vaccine, from China on Thursday.
Additional 1 million doses of Vero Cell arrived from China on Thursday, according to Upendra Dhungana, Chief of the Department of Health Services’ Logistic Management Section.
Out of the 59.36 million doses promised to be acquired with loan help from the Asian Development Bank through COVAX cost-sharing, the government received 1 million doses of Vero Cell vaccines made by the Beijing Institute of Biological Products.
Nepal has previously received 1.6 million doses of Vero Cell vaccination on November 3 and 1.2 million doses on October 27. The Vero Cell vaccines that have been purchased are kept at Teku’s central storage.
Nepal got 492,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine from the Swiss government and the COVAX facility earlier on Wednesday.
At 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, a Qatar Airways plane carrying the immunizations landed at Tribhuvan International Airport. “We received 492,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccinations from Switzerland,” said Bade Babu Thapa, a senior official with the Department of Health Services’ Logistic Management Section.
According to Thapa, the COVAX facility gave 348,000 vaccination doses out of a total of 492,000 doses, while the Swiss government provided 144,000 doses through grant support.
Meanwhile, Swiss Ambassador to Nepal Elisabeth von Capeller presented the Ministry of Health and Population with 144,000 doses of AstraZeneca vaccinations on Thursday.
