Why do leaves fall when a tree is shaken?

That is due to inertia of rest @drupadh_thapa. The leaves tries to be in a rest when a tree is shaken. However, the branch and trunk comes into motion which causes the leaves to separate from its branch. Hence, the leaves fall when a tree is shaken.
