1.2M Doses Of Vero Cell Vaccines Arrive

Nepal received 1.2 million doses of Vero Cell vaccination under the COVAX cost-sharing mechanism on Wednesday.

“On Tuesday morning, a cargo flight of China South Airlines carrying 1.2 million doses of Vero Cell vaccine landed at Tribhuvan International Airport,” said Badebabu Thapa, a senior official with the Department of Health Services’ Logistic Management Section.

Out of the 59.36 million doses promised to be purchased with financing assistance from the Asian Development Bank through the COVAX, the government received 1.2 million doses of Vero Cell vaccines made by the Beijing Institute of Biological Products.

1.2 million doses were delivered today. The Vero Cell vaccines that have been purchased are kept at Teku’s central storage. The government had previously purchased 6 million doses of vaccination from China.

According to the government’s current goal, which includes immunization of all people aged 12 to 18, Nepal needs to vaccinate about 78 percent of its population.

Previously, the government intended to vaccinate only individuals aged 15 and up. Nepal has already received 19,979,330 doses of vaccinations from Vero Cell, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson, and Pfizer.
