4 Companies Shortlisted For Nepal's Satellite Installation

Four companies have been shortlisted to do the study necessary to launch Nepal’s own satellite into space.

The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has chosen four international companies out of eight that submitted technical and financial proposals last month.

Euro Consult of France, Turksat of Turkey, S3Tel Inc of the United Arab Emirates, and Thaicom of Thailand are among the selected companies.

One business will be chosen to work on launching Nepal’s satellite based on the technical and financial proposals made by the shortlisted companies, according to the statement of NTA’s spokesperson Santosh Poudel.

The government has set a goal of having the country’s own satellite operational by 2022, and a policy for it was announced in July.

22 businesses from 12 different nations had previously expressed interest in launching Nepal’s satellite into orbit.
