Following the start of a cold wave in the Parsa district, the Jirabhawani Rural Municipality decided to close all academic institutions.
The rural municipality declared the closure of institutional and community schools until January 8 in a notice issued on Sunday.
The Birgunj Metropolitan City has also donated warm clothing to the elderly.
The metropolitan city supplied blankets, nets, umbrellas, and torchlights to elderly persons in all 32 wards as part of its public welfare programme.
Senior persons, according to Mayor Bijay Kumar Sarawagi, will benefit from the assistance.
Officials from the metropolitan administration claimed that each person received supplies worth Rs 6,000.
