Krishnachandra Nepali Pokharel, the Gandaki Chief Minister, has stated that he will try to promote sports and athletes.
On Saturday, he inaugurated the Vadastari ‘Seven-a-Side Football Tournament’ at Gaindakot in Nawalparasi (East of Bardaghat-Sustapura), saying that sports development is a top priority for the province administration because it promotes a healthy body and mind.
He stated that sports are a person’s identity as well as a source of health, and that the government intends to attain prosperity through sports, with increasing investment in infrastructure development.
Bishnu Kumari Kandel, Deputy Chief of Gaindakot Municipality, spoke at the event and said that sports would play an essential role in promoting Gaindakot on a national and worldwide level.
She stated that the development of playgrounds and other associated places in the city need help from the federal and provincial governments. Everest Youth Club Gaindakot is hosting the competition.
To grow the game and motivate players, the club has held sporting events.
The event will feature a total of 17 Gaindakot ward level football clubs. The winner will receive Rs 30,000 and a trophy, while the runner-up will receive Rs 20,000 and a trophy, according to Man Bahadur Sunari Magar, the club’s chairman.
