It is the ripened ovary which encloses seeds and generally formed after fertilization. Sometimes fruit may develop without fertilization. Such fruit is called porthenocarpic fruit. (e.g. grape, banana etc.). They may be categorized into the fruit and false fruit. The fruit which develops only from ovary often fertilization is called true fruit (e.g. mustard). Sometimes fruit may be developed from ovary as well as other accessory parts such as tholumus, sepals etc. Such fruit is called false fruit(e.g. Apple).
